Steve Gowelo

Steve Gowelo is a Malawian medical entomologist with interest in the control of vector-borne infections. He is currently working on Tsetse-fly control in northern Malawi as a postdoctoral researcher under PIIVeC.

His previous research has centred on mapping risk areas for arboviral infections in Malawi based on vector mosquito prevalence. He has also worked on malaria control via Larval Source Management utilising habitat management and bacterial larviciding, House Improvement and Insecticide-based methods. He is also a keen advocate of community-led control of vector-borne diseases for increased coverage and sustainability.
