PIIVeC Cameroon Launch Event

The event involved short talks from the lead scientist in Cameroon (Charles Wondji) as well as the programme director (Hilary Ranson). We took the opportunity to officially introduce the four PIIVeC research career development fellows, indicating what they will be working on and expanding their networks. In attendance were the deputy high commissioner to the UK, representatives from multiple ministerial offices in Cameroon, various media outlets, and representatives of the research community including universities and research institutes.  This high-profile event resulted in newspaper articles in four different national newspapers, increasing visibility to the public. The PIIVeC team was invited later in the week to meet with the UK High Commissioner to debrief him on the project. We believe that this event laid a solid foundation on which to build multi-sectoral partnerships in Cameroon.
